Amazon India agrees to remove their “Animal Specimen ” Items

Amazon India has agreed to remove their snares and traps as wildlife body claimed an issue after it  urged the portal to do so on compassionate grounds.



The Wildlife SOS had recently found snares, traps, wildlife specimens and wild animal products being sold openly on Amazon and had started a petition campaign requesting the online giant to  remove these items on compassionate grounds. "




As a result of these sustained efforts and petition launched by conservation organisation Wildlife SOS, the online retailing giant has finally sent a written confirmation to Wildlife SOS agreeing to remove all such items.

Flipkart to expand its two-wheelers sales

Flipkart, one of the most famous online retailers is now on a plan to expand its two-wheelers nationwide. Flipkart had started sales of the entire range of TVS Motor's motorcycles and scooters in Bengaluru on a pilot basis in March. 




While the TVS Motor's portfolio would be made available nationally on its site from May, products from all major two-wheeler brands would be added in the next two to three months.

BigCommerce and eBay have launched a new strategic partnership which enables retailers to list using the BigCommerce ecommerce platform to list their products and manage their inventory on the eBay marketplace.


Ecommerce in the Netherland

Ecommerce in Netherland is expected to reach 18 billion euros in 2016. According to Ginio Thuij from market research company GfK, the Dutch ecommerce sector has shown some remarkable growth last year. “Online spending increased by 16.1 percent last year, which is remarkable as it has been less than 10 percent in the preceding years.”

Freecharge- chat and pay option

Freecharge has introduced a chat and pay option enabling customers to talk to merchants and pay for their purchase.
The chat and pay service of freecharge is currently only available on Android. The iOS and Windows tool will be released soon, a statement released by the company stated.

Snapdeal gets $40mn funding from Bessemer and others

SnapDeal on Friday said it has raised USD 40 million from global investors Bessemer Venture Partners, along with existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and IndoUS Venture Partners.



In January this year, Nexus Venture Partners and Indo-US Venture Partners had invested about USD 12 million in Snapdeal.

Shopsity to raise $3million

Shopsity, a shopping app that connects offline lifestyle retailers to customers in their vicinity, became profitable within three months of going live in the Delhi/NCR region.


Encouraged with the response received by 500 lifestyle retailers who are using Shopsity to generate an average transaction value of 12,000 a month, the app has just been launched in Lucknow and will be launched in Chandigarh and Jaipur next month.

M&M launches Ecommerce Startup

M&M – Mahindra group had announced its ecommerce startup for the agricultural equipment rental services called Trringo. They are planning for a venture of around Rs 10 crore once it expands the business model.


This ecommerce start up will connect the farmers looking to rent farm equipment either through an app or a call. Trringo will operate on a franchise and aggregator-based business model, according to Rajesh Jejurikar, president and chief executive, farm equipment and two wheelers, Mahindra and Mahindra. “Trringo will provide the brand promise of equipment availability, commitment and performance to transform lives of farmers,” he said. The firm will appoint franchises in regional rural hubs, which will buy new farm equipment as well as aggregate the existing equipment for rents.

Flipkart invests Rs338 crore in Myntra

Flipkart has invested Rs.338 crore into online fashion store Myntra to boost its leadership position in the fashion segment.  Myntra Designs Pvt. Ltd in January received the funds from Singapore-based FK Myntra Holdings Pvt.Ltd, a unit of Flipkart Ltd, the documents show.

Adidas and Puma in to Ecommerce



The famous sports accessories makers Puma and Adidas have sought the government's permission to operate their own ecommerce portals.




The two firms puma and adidas have also sought clarification and approval from the government on whether their existing wholesale entities can engage in direct retailing and ecommerce, executives said.

Amazon and Wal-mart leads the Ecommerce Industry

The e-commerce sales in the U.S. continue growing by 10 to 12 percent a year, total e-commerce sales are already at substantial levels as traditional brick-and-mortar retailers have expanded their online efforts.


As a result, total annual retail e-commerce sales are $201 billion, according to the 180 companies tracked by eMarketer. For the top 25 retailers, total annual e-commerce sales come in at $159 billion, with Amazon Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Apple Inc. taking the top three spots.

New COO of Jabong

Jabong, the leading online fashion destination announced Mr. Muralikrishnan B as its new COO- Chief Operating Officer. He will be responsible for overseeing the technology, product and digital marketing functions.


Mr. Muralikrishnan has worked with large internet service providers (ISPs) in product management roles before joining eBay in 2005, where he performed leadership roles in product management, category management and marketing before taking over as its Country Manager for India, Philippines and Malaysia in 2011.

Relaunch of Myntra

Myntra, the Online fashion retailer reopened its mobile website on Tuesday. Myntra shut down the mobile and desktop versions of its website and gone app only in May 2015. 



In a phone conversation with Gadgets 360, Ambarish Kenghe, Head of Product, Myntra told Gadgets 360 that it sees its new mobile Web experience as an audition platform, that drives them to install the app. "The overall strategy hasn't changed - if you look at the mobile site, we are pushing really hard for people to install the app because that is the best experience, where we have all the community and engagement features," he said.

The Ecommerce trends in India


The Indian Ecommerce is getting toned with the top players of Ecommerce. Snapdeal, India’s second largest e-commerce site has pulled in $200 million.



The investment comes six months after Snapdeal, which is generally seen as second to Flipkart with Amazon in third, secured a $500 million windfall from Alibaba, SoftBank and Foxconn.

E-commerce Start up losses


The Ecommerce business intuited many new entrepreneurs. But, there are losses of the top 22 online start-ups in the country soared by 293 per cent at Rs 7,884 crores for a combined revenue of Rs 16,199 crore for the financial year end. 



As these startups continued to spend money on advertisements and discounts to lure customers, the graph of their losses extended.

SBI e-Smart


SBI, India’s largest lender launched SBI e-Smart SME to offer easy working capital to online e-commerce players.




The bank has initially tied up with e-commerce major Snapdeal to offer instant loans to its sellers.

SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya said "The e-commerce growth has created a new ecosystem enabling more than 5 lakh sellers to sell product on digital platform. It has also opened up opportunities for the banking industry.”

Flipkart app tops the ratings


According to the data by SimilarWeb, Flipkart has the highest mobile traffic among the ecommerce sites for December 2015.

Flipkart claims to have 47 per cent of mobile commerce traffic, with its Myntra app being second in place (16 per cent share), based on SimilarWeb’s data.


According to Flipkart, rival Amazon has only 15.86 per cent mobile traffic share, while Snadpeal has 13.84 per cent.

Liberalization of SME retailers

The Small and medium retailers requested a liberal online retailing sector. 

They said in a letter to Nirmala Sitharaman, the minister of Industry and Commerce, "The creation of any definition of Ecommerce should take into consideration that this is a technology platform, which acts as a bridge between sellers and their consumers. The platform does not conduct trading itself."

It added that e-commerce sector is already restricted with business-to-consumer ecommerce still out of bounds for foreign capital and the government should review the possibility of liberalizing the industry.
